Youth Impact’s mission is to connect youth to proven life-changing information. Their vision is to enable over 1 million youth to thrive through delivery of multiple evidence-based programs. To reach their education goals they have 2 primary programs: 1. Using innovative educational techniques to help Botswana youth improve their basic literacy and numeracy by teaching at the right level, and 2. Using mobile phones to remotely connect students to 1:1 instruction that’s targeted to meet their individual learning needs. In addition to education, Youth Impact works to lower the HIV rate in Botswana (one of the leading killers in Sub-Saharan Africa) through 90 minute classes encouraging safe sex and dating within peers/age-mates, which research has shown will reduce the likelihood of unprotected sex.
