Cambodia:
Recently, many people who lived within the grounds of the Angkor Archaeological Park were evicted from their houses and relocated to an area approximately 40 km from Siem Reap city in the newly created town of Ta Ek. This area, once a forest, was cleared many years ago for the farming of cassava and rice. Although the land has been transformed into a new town with schools, markets, and a provincial hall, it remains incredibly barren, lacking trees that could provide cover and shelter for the thousands of relocated residents.
At the end of February 2024, in partnership with the Cambodia Rural Student Trust, Khiri Reach brought 450 trees to be planted in the village of Ta Ek, with the goal of eventually planting 70,000 trees within the next 23 years.
Wildlife Alliance Reforestation Project: Khiri Reach has helped the Wildlife Alliance Reforestation Project expand their nursery from 190,000 to 265,000 saplings, which will help reforestation after illegal logging in the Koh Kong and Sihanoukville provinces.
Thailand:
In the Khlongtoey district of Bangkok Thailand, Khiri Reach supports the local Duang Prateep Foundation. With a history dating back to the early 1970s, it is a beacon of hope in the heart of Bangkok’s impoverished community. Beyond offering education to children living in poverty, it operates rehabilitation centers, firefighting resources, a credit union, and provides a range of services aimed at improving the lives of some of Bangkok’s most disadvantaged residents.
For over two decades, the Wild Animal Rescue Foundation’s Gibbon Rehabilitation Project (GRP) has worked tirelessly to preserve the remaining wild gibbons on Phuket Island. Khiri Reach has provided financial support to the Wild Animal Rescue Foundation, supporting their anti-poaching campaigns and traveler awareness initiatives.
Vietnam:
Khiri Reach supports Food Bank Vietnam, which works in Ho Chi Minh City to collect excess food ingredients from restaurants, hotels, and manufacturers and distribute them to those in need. Moreover, they organize campaigns, events, and workshops to raise awareness of food waste and food security in the community.
Khiri Reach has supported The Endangered Primate Rescue Center (EPRC), located at Cuc Phuong National Park, southwest of Hanoi, Vietnam. The EPRC is dedicated to the rehabilitation, breeding, research, and conservation of endangered primates, and to the protection of their habitats.
